Marist Comprehensive Academy, Uturu, recently brought excitement, colour, and achievement together as it hosted its much-anticipated Award-Giving Day and Grand Finale of the 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition on Sunday, the 15th. The event was a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork, discipline, and academic excellence—values that remain at the heart of the institution.
The atmosphere was electric as students, teachers, parents, and invited guests gathered to witness the culmination of weeks of spirited competition among the school houses. The inter-house sports competition featured a wide range of activities designed to test not only physical strength and agility but also coordination, strategy, and teamwork.
Students actively participated in various sporting events including table tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and football, as well as track events such as the 100m and 200m races. Fun and engaging games like the sack race, egg race, Chess and Monopoly added a unique blend of excitement and inclusiveness, ensuring that every student had an opportunity to showcase their abilities.
One of the major highlights of the day was the presentation of medals and awards to deserving students who distinguished themselves in different sporting categories. Cheers and applause filled the air as winners stepped forward to receive recognition for their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship.
Beyond sports, the academy also used the occasion to celebrate academic excellence and dedication to duty. Adjustment: Academic Excellence Award: Best 3 students from each set were rewarded for their outstanding performance. Best students from both Senior and Junior Categories were also recognised as well as the OVERALL BEST STUDENT of the Year ESHEYA AUGUSTINA UCHEOMA.
Four Outstanding Staff Members were also recognised by the School management while three exceptional teachers were recognised by OSAMCA.
The event not only marked the end of the inter-house sports season but also reinforced the importance of a well-rounded education—where academics, sports, and character development go hand in hand.
Marist Comprehensive Academy continues to uphold its tradition of nurturing excellence in every sphere, and this year’s grand finale stands as a testament to its commitment to raising disciplined, talented, and high-achieving students.
